Children are natural learners. They constantly absorb new experiences from everyday lives. Therefore, toys really play integral part in the upbringing and learning process of children.
The development rate of children is different. For example, some may be walking at 8 months while some may be toddling in 15th month. Every child has different abilities, some are strong in one, and other child can have abilities in some other. Infants, babies and children have natural sponge towards learning. How often a child ask a question and why? This child curiosity is the first step towards understanding the science and nature of the world. Play plays important role in child’s learning and emotional development. It provides wide array of benefits. Play not only gives children fun and job but also develops children personality. Play also helps children to realize their potential, capabilities and experience them satisfaction of success. It develops creativity and imagination which helps to develop speech, thinking, reading, problem solving. And eventually children manage emotions, develop values, understand things and interpret the world.

Due to variation in the development and speed of children, they have different needs. A child may want to play a game again and again, while other child minds to do so, because he does not like the game. This child freedom creates child activity and develops their thoughts and ideas.

Infants and babies (low age group child’s) need toys colorful to watch, sensory in nature, stimulating their touch hearing and sight. 2 to 3 years children enjoy creating play and role-play, either solitary game or group activity. Girls enjoy dressing up or girl toys, such as dolls, doll toys and doll accessories. Story toys are also important in this age.

In the age of 4-5 years, children play involves thinking. So toys, which involve thinking skills plays important role, such are child puzzles, arts, crafts, building blocks, puzzle toys, learning toys and constructive toys. Children also like game toys and games. Cognitive play becomes less prevalent as children become more involved with group activities.

In school age, creative and cognitive play becomes less important as compare to games. Children prefer to play in groups and less individually. Group games improves child socially and emotionally. Making friends and sharing, makes children confident and independent. Games and games toys include ball games, racing games, skipping, and board games. These games help children to learn emotion, control, co-operation, logical thinking and creativity.
